A work made to be lived in
villa museum mogador is neither a museum turned into a residence, nor a residence decorated like a museum.
It was conceived from the outset as a place where architecture, collection and the art of living would be one and the same.
Behind the contemporary rigour of its white volumes, another Morocco unfolds: one of materials, of handed-down objects, of photographs, of architectural fragments, and of the gestures and knowledge of craft.
A contemporary house built to hold memory without ever pinning it down.
The house, level by level
The Villa reveals itself gradually.
On the ground floor, two independent apartments each offer a world of their own.
Upstairs, two further residences can open into one another and form a single, larger whole.
Lower down, the mood becomes intimate: a beldi hammam and treatment rooms carry the experience further.
Then comes the roof, open to Essaouira, its sky, its light and the Atlantic.
The collection, for its part, belongs to no one level.
It inhabits the whole house.
